Hi all,

I had my surgery on Wednesday and it went swimmingly, however everything else this week has been a bit of a mess. I was ill immediately before the surgery, and I’m still recovering from that on top of the surgery. My jaw doesn’t open very wide at the moment either, so my diet is mostly liquid with some soft foods (congee and yoghurt) mixed in.

I also got an unconditional offer from Swansea University on Tuesday, and normally I’d be quite happy about it! And really I still should be, however, it’s not really what I wanted. My bid for a Genetics BSc entry was denied, and instead I was offered a place in Medical Sciences and Population Health. With a Foundation Year. The Foundation Year makes it unacceptable for me unfortunately, since that adds on another £24,000 of debt that I don’t want, however I plan to talk with the university come Monday about why I was denied from what I applied for and if there’s anything that can be done.

I do feel like the poor offer I got is mostly because of what I’m doing in America though, which contrary to what my bio says and how I make things out to be, is Computer Science with some Biotechnology sprinkled on top. And I truthfully do hate CS quite a bit as well; this is not something I want a career in. I can only see CS being a thing of last resort for me, I have no passion for CS whatsoever besides the semi-fun I had troubleshooting all of the problems setting this site up threw at me.

So I might switch my programme to Biology proper. Even though I’m almost done. Which might be quite stupid, but I’m going to consider it and talk with both the school and my family about it over the next few weeks. I’m still waiting to hear back from Pompey and I did get a conditional offer from UWE as well, for what its worth. Worst case scenario is I spend an extra year here and I go to Singapore or Malaysia instead in the end, but the first bit’s much more likely than the second.

Anyway, Marathon. Marathon’s open beta is going to be on 26 Feb, what a birthday gift! I can’t wait to play it, and I hope that some of you can join me in playing it :)
