Uni Offers + More Jaw Fun

Hi all,

I received my final UCAS track offer yesterday, from the University of Portsmouth. It was a Conditional for Biochemistry (BSc), and this means every course I applied from I received an offer from, so I have a fair amount to choose from. Suffice to say, it’s either Swansea or Portsmouth, most likely. However, I plan to email Swansea a bit later into the week, as the side effects from my surgery have become very uncomfortable and irritating, to a point where I literally cannot sleep because it’s bothering me so much. Thankfully, this has gotten me an exam deferment from Wednesday to Friday, but it’s also at a point where I’ve decided I need to bug my surgeon again tomorrow, as well as possibly an ENT. I can’t hear very well out of my left ear, and it feels incredibly clogged, and somewhat itchy. I’ve noticed much more cerumen production from the same ear as well, so I’m beginning to think this may be partially inflammation from the recovering temporomandibular joint, and partially some amount of impacted cerumen caught in the narrowed ear canal, as my cerumen is super dry naturally (something something ABCC11 gene) and kind of just does that anyway. It’s also darker than it usually is, which is a bit concerning. But that’s just my assumption, I’ll have to bug and beg a lot of people to find out anything for certain.

Anyway, now that all of my offers are in place, I plan to speak with my family and a friend or two who hopefully know more than I do about uni quality after I get in communication with Swansea, so I can make a final decision. I can say now that it will most likely be for Portsmouth, but I am still eyeing Swansea if they decide to give me a revised offer I find acceptable. Either way, this will probably take a couple of months and result in me annoying a lot of people. But we’ll see what happens in the end, and I’ll make sure to keep you all updated on the process.

Lastly, it snowed today. Again. It was about a centimetre or so, but it was still incredibly annoying. Fortunately (for me), the rest of the week will be more cloudy and rainy than snowy, which is my favourite :)

Anyway, that’s all for now. I’ll probably post again on my birthday.
