Hi all,
Last Thursday, I had to go to a village immediately south of where I live to get my jaw examined, and it turns out I need surgery. Nothing too invasive, just an Arthrocentesis of my Left Temporomandibular Joint. I have Temporomandibular Dysfunction on my left TMJ, and it’s quite painful and hasn’t responded to medication or a mouthguard, so this is the logical step up. I’ll need to go under general anaesthesia, but it should be done within an hour and I’ll go home the same day, provided I have a friend to drive me, as I can’t take the bus afterward, of course.
Issue is school. This is going to be on 11 February, which is a Wednesday. I already missed a Biology lecture for the examination, and I’ll be missing a Calculus lecture for the surgery. Realistically, I should take 12 February as a further rest day, but I would miss yet another Biology lecture. Of course I’ll be letting both professors know later today that I need surgery, but I’m contemplating whether to take the 12th off or not, as I’m already anxious about my performance.
On a lighter note, the village and the neighbouring town were nice to walk through while waiting for the bus home on Thursday. Here’s a house I saw, and a frozen river I saw once on the bus.
Nonetheless, I should be fine. Other things will come to the blog soon. As always, you can reach me at @goatcel on Twitter.
